You don’t always need some fancy equipment to have a good workout. Simple as a good jumping rope can be used as an excellent form of cardio and can leave you exhausted in only a couple of minutes.

My list of Gym Accessories

Jumping rope

Abs roller

Wireless Air Buds

weight lifting wrist straps

Resistant Bands

Wrist Hooks

Ankle weights

Orb tissue massage ball

Body fat scale

Liquid chalk

Jumping rope

Jumping rope is probably the most versatile equipment to do cardio. You can Jump rope basically in any location, and in just a few minutes of using the rope, it will leave you exhausted.

The cool thing about this skipping rope is that you can take the cord out and attach a smaller one with weights at the end, so it is a 2-in-1 rope. This mimics the feeling of you skipping a rope, so you can break a sweat right from inside your home. It also has the function to count how many times you skipped and has a timer as well. This is a great function to help see your improvements.

Abs Roller

If you had never used one of these before you are in for a treat. This may just look like basic equipment, but this is more of an advanced abs workout. It’s because you need to hold your weight onto this smaller roller in a plank position while rolling out. It attacks all your core muscles with one movement.

Now the only downfall with exercise is that it is not beginner friendly. Even with me, I was unable to perform this exercise correctly, so I was looking around for another option. From what I came across this roller, with this you can pull the wheels apart giving you two wheels instead of one. This function makes the exercise much easier, as this gives you a greater amount of balance.

Reviber Fusion

This is rather for more home accessories than a gym, but I thought I would add it anyway as I love this product.

No matter who you are there are always days when you don’t have the motivation to go to the gym. Usually, we ignore those thoughts, but sometimes those lazy ideas win and we just stay at home. But what if there was a way to have a fun full-body workout at home? This accessory provides exactly that, this lets you perform vibration workouts.

The product comes with a pair of resistant bands and a workout disk. You can perform a lot of exercises on it, my favourites are squats, lunges, biceps curls, push-ups and mountain climbing. Essentially this product is a vibration plate that helps you burn more calories and help build stability in your abs.

Wireless Air Buds

Wired earphones are becoming more and more outdated and there is a good reason for it. If you ever owned or still own a wired earphone you know how sometimes it just gets in the way during the middle of a good workout. It happened to me so many times during my runs on the treadmill, the wire just tangles up. Small things like this just ruin your gym session. An easy solution to this is why not just cut out the wire from the equation?

There are so many big brands out there that cost hundreds of pounds. But I found this to be at an affordable price. It has got ear hooks that can be adjusted so it can be a perfect fit for your ears. The hooks are soft and comfortable, it did not hurt my ears even after wearing it for hours.

The sound quality was the best thing I fell in love with. I don’t know all the technical aspects of it but the bass that it provides is excellent. Having this better quality of sound gave me more energy for my gym sessions.

The charging case provides 32 hours of battery life and you can wear the earbuds for 8 hours with a full charge. So your earbuds will last mostly for your whole day without having to keep on charging them.

weight lifting wrist straps

Wrist wraps are not necessary for everyone and most people don’t need them. Essentially what the wrist wrap is there for is to prevent your wrist from hyperextending causing wrist pain.

If you are suffering from any wrist injury this would be a great help. But normally the reason people use this is when they are about to lift heavy weight which could potentially put a great load on their wrists.

But if you are just starting, I would not worry about getting these. But as you start lifting heavier weights having this by your side, can help you push those weights safely. But you should not rely on them for your whole session as can build weakness in your muscles. You need to know the right time when to utilize this accessory.

Resistant Bands

The resistant bands are very versatile and can be used in many aspects of your workouts~ thus also making it a great tool for home gyms. Some ideas and ways to use it are:

You can use it for just warmups. Warming up your joints and muscles is extremely important which I learned the hard way. Without proper warm up your chance of injury increases. So before a workout, I give myself 10 minutes to warm up by doing basic movements using the bands.

You can use these to assist you with bodyweight exercises such as pull-ups. Not everyone can perform a pull-up with a correct form. You can wrap the band in the bar and it can help you pull yourself up. You can use the different resistant bands to make the exercise harder or easier.

You can use this in your weight training to provide more resistance. An example of this is when I do my biceps curls with a bar, I wrap the in the middle of the bar and hold it down with my feet. This provides a different kind of stimulation than just going up in weight. You can play around with different exercises and see the benefits.

Wrist Hooks

Same as the Wrist straps this is primarily used when you lift heavier weights. The difference between them is for wrist hooks rather than it supporting your wrists, it is there to support your grip.

You use this gym accessory for pulling exercises. You wrap the weight using end of the strap as a hook. Usually, your grip fails before your other group of muscles, making it harder to push yourself. With this it eliminates that problem as the weight would be strapped to your hands, you will still have a hold of the weight even if your grip fails. The exercise where I mostly use this is for the deadlift.

Ankle weights

Ankle weights are a fun way to push yourself at the gym. As you will wear the ankle weights throughout your session, this will increase your muscle endurance. You will get that extra workout to your lower body without even trying.

As this is easy to put on and hide under your trouser you can also wear this anywhere you go. But The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you should not wear this for a long period of time, as it can cause joint pain in your ankles.

Orb Tissue Massage Ball

Have you ever had those achy pains after a good gym sessions? It can be a good signs as it shows that you worked those muscles to their limit, but on the flip side those pain can get annoying. So having this deep massage ball can help alleviate some of the aches and help you heal quicker. Deep tissue massage will help loosen up your muscles, promotion more blood flow to that area. This Orb ball can pretty much hit all of your body parts.

You can use this as a warm-up too as it will loosen up your muscles and get you ready for lifting weights. I have been using this for the start and the end of my workouts for a few minutes and it gets me feeling great.

Body Fat scale

It is very important to always track your progress, this will help determine if you are getting closer to your goals or not.

This scale gives you many data, but the ones like to focus on is my body fat percentage and body muscle mass percentage. It is important to see what type of results is coming from the routine that you implementing. It is hard to tell what is going on by just looking in the mirror, so having this by your side you can have a full diagnosis of your situation.

But it is very easy to get caught up in the numbers. Do not use this every day and get stressed if the number you see are not what you hoped for.

Also, you should have a schedule, I recommend using it every 3 weeks. If you use it every day, you don’t give your body enough time to start changing.

Liquid chalk

Having liquid chalk is not a requirement at all. This is probably the least important one on this list.

What it does is it helps your grip the same as with the wrist hook. But with this unlike the wrist hook you are pulling the weights with your grip strength. This is why people prefer using this as you are more one-to-one connected with the weights.

For me personally, I like to use the wrist hook as it is less messy, but from time to time I will use the chalk as well to get a different stimulation.

You can try using both of them and see which one you prefer. This is why I put this one in the list as well.

Final thoughts

You absolutely do not need to buy all these accessories to achieve a good workout. Or in fact you don’t need any of them at all, as long you are working out that is the main target.

But having these Gym Accessories can definitely help you progress at a faster rate and can add that little bit of extra spice, making your gym session more exciting.
