What is Wonder core Smart (Easy Home Workouts)

Wonder core was launched in 2009, now I know that it sounds ancient. But due to this device being effective people are still purchasing it.

Doing normal abs workout at home such as sit-ups are great, but as you start to fatigue other muscles start getting strained like your lower back. If you are a beginner it is normal for your core to be not as strong, so your body will use other muscles to overcome this weakness. But this means that ab workouts could do more harm than good if your form starts to deteriorate.

An easy solution that I found for this problem is by using the Wonder Core. This is because it eliminates the possibility of nontargeted muscle from overworking. It supports you from the back, giving you that extra assistance you would need at the start. You can also adjust the resistance, so once your core starts to get stronger you can lower the resistance level, making you work harder. This way you can safely work out and progress over time.

The cool thing about this equipment is that you can do other variety of workouts that can target other muscle groups as well. I have listed this down below:

Wonder core exercises

Here is a list of different exercises you can perform with the Wonder Core:

  • Forearm/Biceps
  • Triceps
  • Bridges
  • Scissors Kicks
  • Sit-Up/Crunches
  • Push Ups

1)Forearm/Biceps

  • Lay the Wonder Core down in a flat surface as shown in the picture
  • Hold the top of the Pad with Both Hands firmly
  • Then push down the handle one at a time
  • Make sure you are not leaning too farward and using your body weight to push down
  • keep the core tight while performing this movement

Triceps

  • Sit down between the two handles
  • Bring your knees up until you can keep your feet flat on the floor
  • Then fully push down with both hands
  • Hold at the bottom for few seconds
  • Make sure if you are feeling your shoulder hurt doing this, lower the resistant level

Bridges

  • Firstly get your glutes touching the pad and your lower back resting on the two handles
  • lean back on your elbow at a comfortable length
  • Then lift only your hips, simultaneously squeezing your glutes
  • Make sure you are not hyper extending your back, this can cause lower back pain

Scissors kick

  • Sit down and put your ankles on the rollers as shown in the picture
  • Then push your leg down one at a time, keeping a steady pace
  • Make sure if you are feeling this exercise more on your legs than abs, lower the resistance.

Sit-up/Crunches

  • Sit right between the roller and place your hands on your head
  • Just like how you normally do a sit up, lean back and come back up
  • Make sure to only engage your core and not put any strain on your neck/lower back

Push ups

  • Get into a push up position, while placing the rollers on your thighs
  • Your hands and and feet should be shoulder width apart
  • Then slowly perform a Push-Up in a nice steady pace
  • Make sure to keep your core tight while doing your Push-Ups

Who is this for?

Now even with so many varieties of workouts that you can do in Wonder core, there is still a limitation with it, which is why this is not for everyone.

I would say that this equipment is only for people who are new to working out or people who like working out at home rather than going to the gym.

If you are someone whose fitness level is moderate or even advanced, where you can comfortably do Push-Ups and Sit-Ups, then this would not be suitable for you. The resistance level would not be enough to challenge you.

This is great equipment for people who has suffered an injury and are trying to get back in shape. As it provides great support, you can perform exercises with low impact on your body.

Pros

Easy to use and can still get a good workout

Can be used to do variety of exercises

Good quality

Can be used for recovery

Cons

The resistance is too low

Becomes too easy as you become stronger

Cannot perform any advanced exercises

What I think about it

I think this equipment should only be used as a stepping stone to getting into the fitness world. At the beginning, your body would be unable to perform some exercises with the correct form. In this scenario, Wonder Core would be useful, with its function you will get the right amount of support. This way you can build up strength in the safest way.

But once you reach a certain level, the effectiveness of this equipment starts to fade away. If you think you would get crazy strong by only using this, then you would be mistaken.

Does this mean that it would become completely useless later on? No, not completely, you can use it for active recovery. So in the beginning, I used this to increase the strength of my core, but as time went on I used this less and less. Then I thought why not just use this as a means for recovery rather than muscle building? What I mean by this is that some days my body would get extremely sore after a gym session, rather than just sitting down all day. I will use the Wonder Core to get my blood pumping, this makes me recover at a faster pace.

I think this equipment is worth purchasing if you are planning on doing home workouts. You can pretty much work out your whole body with it. But if you are going gym or planning on joining the gym then this equipment has less value. But it can still be used as how I use it for recovery.
